Steal BANS Templates & Themes

So I finished modifying a template for BANS and I thought about how easy it is to steal templates from other BANS sites. **I want to go on record that I do not condone the theft of templates and themes from others**

This post is for educational purposes only!!

Ok how do you steal a BANS template?

  1. First find a BANS site that you like. (To test my theory I went to the Customer Stores page at the bans site HERE and went to the first on the list HERE)
  2. Right click and go to ‘view source
  3. search for: type=”text/css”
  4. take notice of what theme name they are using. As in this example you can see they are using the layout-1-right theme.
  5. Now go back to your browser that has the site pulled up and after the domain just put themes/ (HERE)
  6. voila! There they all are!
  7. Click to the themes folder, right click on the ‘styles.css‘ and ‘save target as.‘ (HERE)
  8. Click on the ‘images‘ folder and right click on all of the images and ‘save target as‘ (HERE)

That is most of it there. If the theme isnt very modified (like this one is) then that is about all there is to it. upload the styles.css and images folder to your site and check it out.

If the site is very modified like the header and footer has changed then you will need to copy all of the code from the view source in step above and extract all of the info to create your own header and footer and insert the bans code wherever you can.

How to hinder (it won’t completely stop) the people trying to steal your template that you spent a lot of time in making.

  1. Go to your cPanel
  2. Click on Index Manager
  3. Click on the www folder
  4. Click on the word themes
  5. Select No Indexes

Again, as someone who makes templates and buys templates, I do not condone this shady technique to steal your templates. That is why I wrote this, in hopes that it will help everyone lock down their stores.
