Pricing
If you are going to be offering commissions for the sale of products you will need to consider your product pricing. Strike a balance between reasonable pricing and generous incentives. Price becomes a non-issue only if you’re selling virtual (downloadable) items. If you are selling physical products you will need to determine how much you can affordably offer in commission without cutting too much into your own profits.
Incentives for Affiliates
Whatever you do, make sure the affiliates will think your incentive offering is worth it. Remember, good affiliates will be thinking in terms of quality products, commissions and return on investment. If you are too stingy with your affiliate commissions your affiliates will find someone else’s products to promote and you don’t want that.
Affiliates will work hard for you if they know they are being rewarded fairly for doing so. Affiliates will be working for you for free until they create sales. The most aggressive ones pour thousands into advertising just so they can sell your product. Research the exact amount your competitors are giving your affiliates.
Compute the amount you spent on product development, and include this factor when setting a percentage for your incentives and commissions. For downloadables, you can give as low as 40% and as high as 75%. If you’re selling software, you can give 20% commission because you may have to hire someone for updates and maintenance. For physical products, you can give out 10% .

Cookies in internet marketing are very relevant pieces of harmless code that gets uploaded in the browser of the website visitor. This cookie tracks what link that visitor clicked on and when. Most affiliates look at the cookie duration when choosing an affiliate program to join.
Cookies are useful for when a potential customer referred by an affiliate visits the sales page but doesn’t buy anything. A non-buying customer may decide to buy only after 20 days. If the cookie duration is for a month, the affiliate gets paid as long as the customer buys within 30 days.
